I've been reflecting on some of these friendships and wanted to put in writing some examples throughout my life of what a true friendship looks like. My sweet friend L, who I met as a 6th grade camper going to Bible camp for the first time. Really, spending a week away from family for the first time ever! We bonded over a big storm early on that first week and huddled together in a rickety bunk bed scared to death over some thunder and lightening. We prayed together and laughed together, and little did we know we would become life-long friends. Pen pals to college roomies, to wives encouraging each other. Our desire has always been to keep each other committed to staying in God's Word and I'm eternally grateful for that. My friend H, who I met as a college freshman...we weren't sure about each other at first, but became close friends quickly. Lots of laughter, and lots of crying with her. She has been a rock in my life, always telling me like it is, not just sugar-coating truth. Pointing me to Christ, and being a listening ear. Thankful, so thankful for a friendship like this. My friend M, who is closer to my mom's age, but it really doesn't matter. Friendship doesn't care about age. She was my mentor and encourager during some really difficult times. Thankful that she always pointed me to Scripture when I needed it most. My friend S, who moved next door just a few months before we did. Never realized how close a neighbor could be before, but I've been so blessed by her presence. I knew she was a true friend when she drove me to the doctor during my miscarriage and was there for me as I sobbed long and hard afterwards. I will never, ever, forget it. My friend K, who I haven't known for very long yet. She is a steady and loyal kind of friend, one who you always want in your corner. Patient and caring, always interested in my journey. I want to be more like her. I love this quote: Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It's about who walked into your life and said "I'm here for you" and proved it.-Unknown And this one from Winnie the Pooh: It seems they had always been, and would always be, friends. Time could change much, but not that.
